The University of Missouri's main campus is located in Columbia, the fourth-largest city in the state. Mizzou is known for its strong journalism program, the first of its kind, where students gain real-world experience at the Columbia Missourian newspaper and KOMU television station. The campus is also home to the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center, a unique facility that is the only domestic source of isotopes for nuclear medicine. Traditions run deep here, and the university claims to be the birthplace of homecoming.
