The University of Pittsburgh's main campus is located in the urban Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, adjacent to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, the Carnegie Museums, and Schenley Park. The campus's centerpiece is the 42-story Cathedral of Learning, and many buildings are part of the Schenley Farms Historic District. Pitt is a major research university with close ties to its medical center, and it maintains four branch campuses throughout Western Pennsylvania.
